Thoughts on NBA Playoffs: Congratulations to Larry Bird being named NBA Executive of the Year. He's got the Pacers a point guard away from being a serious contender for the NBA title. They can make it interesting against the Heat this series with Game 3 tonight at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. I love "The Truth" Paul Pierce. Last night, he refused to allow the C's out of the game early on and KG was ON. Love the fan gear-coordination at Oklahoma City home games and feel like they (vs the Lakers) and the Pacers are not getting any calls. Ron Artest (Meta World Peace) clotheslining two guys on the same play, no call, a prime example.

I don't have any predictions, but it's hard when your 3 favorite teams are among the 4 remaining in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are my long-term favorite, or where I'd want to play first, the Pacers are the hometown-favorites and I've loved the C's for a long time because of Pierce.

Have been doing a great job at saving money this year, but it's off to King's Island to ride The Beast!

Not much to report tonight. The NBA Playoffs are driving me crazy right now.

Pretty excited that I had an opportunity to follow the University of Kentucky basketball team march to the NCAA Championship this season. I'm not a UK fan, but very much a fan of this team. Anthony Davis is pretty unreal. Coach John Calipari had this team ready to go.

Woke up about a week ago totally pissed off at myself for tipping the scales at 199 lbs. Totally committed to getting in better shape right now. This is embarassing.

Feeling a year wiser today. My age is the same as Dave Blaney's NASCAR number so if you can figure that out, then you know how old I am today. "The Bus" Jerome Bettis also wore this number.

Not doing so hot in my NCAA brackets, 11th of 13 participating, but still having fun keeping track of all the games. I'm thinking that if Kentucky doesn't win it all this year that it's an upset. Most teams have 1-2 really good players, but the Wildcats have several.

My main thoughts are with a very good friend's family in Newburgh, Indiana. Gary Phillips passed away the other day. "G-Money Broke Dawg", my name for him, was one of my best friends for about 7 years of my life, including the time I spent in coaching basketball. He loved his family more than anything, but yet always looking out for and helping others. Very great man taken far too soon.

Pretty excited that my neighbor, Rob Gibson, has a chance to win his sectional tonight. Nothing beats March Madness!

This is a great time of year. Not only are the basketball tournaments in full swing, but NASCAR season and MLB Spring Training are underway. Jeff Gordon's car blew up at Daytona, but tomorrow is a new day in Phoenix.

Several people died and many more lost everything they had in tornadoes yesterday. The town of Marysville, IN was completely destroyed - a complete town! Henryville HS, flattened. Thankful I've never had to experience a tornado and I hope God helps those people's lives that were affected.

March Madness is upon us! The IHSAA basketball tournaments are underway along with the NCAA Conference basketball tournaments around the corner. This is a great time to be a basketball fan.

Also looking for a big Jeff Gordon win at the Daytona 500 this weekend.

With the passing of Whitney Houston, I was watching people on TV say their favorite Whitney songs. The one in this Dr J video has always been mine. Why? I have never been able to watch this video without sobbing uncontrollably. This morning was no different.

The Greatest Love of All, Whitney Houston (Dr. J highlight video)

"The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve.
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all."

A week ago, the city of Indianapolis hosted Super Bowl XLVI. I had a chance to spend pretty much every day downtown in some form and it was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had in Indy. Probably the greatest.

January 8, 2012 @6:00pm:

I just wanted to add to yesterday morning's thoughts. I'm very excited to be working in Indianapolis during Super Bowl XLVI and hope to see YOU downtown! Hoping to see Tim Tebow, Dan Marino, Dwight Gooden and other past/present sports heroes of mine.

January 7, 2012 @ 9:00am:

Hey everybody, I'm still alive and doing well. Last night, I was able to wash my car, at night, in a t-shirt, in JANUARY. Pretty happy about the weather right now.

Every year I update this site with what I would like to accomplish in 2012 so here it goes:

1) Save money. In my life, spending money is a problem. If it's not gas, food or a ballgame then I'm not spending on it. We're talking bare necessities. I just read an article about a guy that retired at age 30! Needing to incorporate many of the things he and some other people I know have done so that I can be better prepared for the future.

2) Attend a different NASCAR race. Every year since 1982, with 2 exceptions (1 for a baseball all-star game and the other for whitewater rafting), my dad and I have attended the Kroger NASCAR 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. 2012 is the first year of that race being moved to the Brickyard. HUGE mistake, in our opinions

3) Attend a game at Fenway Park. Field of Dreams has always been one of my favorite movies. I want to sit on the 1st base side with a Coke and a 'Dog just like Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones. I want to see all the dents on the Green Monster in person along with the red seat (Section 42, Row 37, Seat 21) in right field where Ted Williams hit the 502-foot home run on June 6, 1946.

* Continue to fight to stay in shape by running, working out, swimming, playing tennis, basketball, baseball and any other activities that come my way. Nothing wears the human body out more than doing nothing. Going to stay away from golf because it can be very costly for me. I get addicted to that game very easily!
